…it’s just not evenly distributed”, said William Gibson (a quote that has since been widely quoted by e.g. Tim O’Reilly). What better way to describe my sensation when today I saw this:

“Engineers at the University of Washington have for the first time used manufacturing techniques at microscopic scales to combine a flexible, biologically safe contact lens with an imprinted electronic circuit and lights”. This brought to my mind an “artifact from the future” on Wired Mag a few months ago - Canon contact lenses that come with Google pre-installed:

Whoa, totally awesome. Suddenly, all these folding display concepts started to feel very obsolete. (Like http://gizmodo.com/347272/philips-readius-materializes-with-fold+away-screen). This was pretty much the final sign that we’re really living the future. Definitely couldn’t have expected this kind of stuff to emerge yet.
Can’t wait for these to reach the shelves; not holding my breath, though.
Thanks for the news!
