Where does kebab come from?

Posted on | January 6, 2008 | 20 Comments

Normally, this is a very very serious blog, but this made me laugh today so I needed to share. Long ago me and some friends were sitting in a kebab restaurant in downtown Helsinki after a long night, wondering where kebab comes from. Conventional explanations wouldn’t do, so we invented the now infamous kebab animal, which simply lies on the grass (without any feet) and waits to be picked up by kebab makers. Today I learned that somebody has finally managed to photograph one of these animals. And indeed, here it is:

kebab animal

The web is a wonderful place.

    Hello,

I must say that I have used the term “kebab animal” since early 2006, and am very happy to see that there are others around the world who have realized the true origin of the delicious fast-food. Thank you also for this excellent picture, I will add it to my slideshow about the kebab animal that I will present for students of Stockholm Culinary University next week.
